**About the team**:
The Australian Radioactive Waste Agency (ARWA), a newly established Commonwealth Agency, has a unique opportunity to lead and shape the future of Australia’s expertise in radioactive waste management with a dynamic, multidisciplinary team working together to implement the Government’s commitment to the safe and secure management of the nation’s radioactive waste. Key among ARWA’s objectives is to design, licence, construct and operate the proposed National Radioactive Waste Management Facility (NRWMF). The NRWMF is the first purpose-built facility in Australia for the consolidated disposal of Low-Level Waste (LLW) and temporary storage of Intermediate-Level Waste (ILW).
The Manager, NRWMF, Program Management Office (PMO) will be responsible for facilitating effective program planning and coordination to deliver the NRWMF. This is a critical role coordinating diverse teams across multiple streams, providing strategic advice and direction to ensure the successful delivery of numerous highly complex and simultaneous projects. The role will support the Senior Executive team of ARWA to navigate considerable uncertainty during the design and licencing phase of the NRWMF, while also planning for a complex capital works phase.
- Significant experience working within a highly-regulated environment.
- Extensive knowledge of and compliance with legislative and policy frameworks, government decision-making and agency guidelines and regulations.
- The ability to lead negotiations and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience in leading a PMO, and influencing colleagues and stakeholders, to meet strategic objectives compliance obligations.
- Demonstrated high-level ability to reason conceptually, negotiate effectively, resolve complex problems and sensitive issues, to make clear decisions and to initiate action.
- Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of Government and issues at the federal level and understanding and knowledge of structures and roles of government agencies.
- The ability to work with a variety of key stakeholders at commercial, local, state and federal government levels.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills that foster trust and cooperation, and a proven ability to work effectively and with integrity within a politically sensitive environment.
- The ability to work in a fluid environment, remaining flexible, agile and adaptable supporting colleagues at short notice.
**Qualification/s**:
- Tertiary qualifications in project management or related field or senior management equivalent experience.
- MSP Certification or equivalent experience
- PRINCE2 certification or equivalent experience
**What you will do**:
- Manage a team responsible for facilitating effective and efficient program delivery within the Agency
- Develop and implement program, projects and schedules
- Deliver and manage complex multidisciplinary licensing and/or infrastructure program
- Manage cost, planning, scope and contracts
- Ensure program is managed to cost, schedule and quality outcomes delivered in a complex stakeholder environment
- Develop and manage strategies to ensure Agency staff and relevant partners have the information, support, coordination and access to systems they need to effectively engage in delivering the NRWMF
- Develop and manage strategies to ensure quality and timely operational advice is provided and accurate and timely payments to contracted partners are mad
- Develop, implement and review the effectiveness of the Agency’s capital works planning and project management frameworks, policies and projects ensuring compliance with legislative, regulatory and public sector requirements
- Coordinate the Agency’s capital works planning and performance reporting framework and activities
- As part of the Agency leadership team, contribute to setting and delivering on the strategic directions of the Agency and its respective programs
- Build and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
- Advise and assist with essential documentation and processes fundamental to demonstrating compliance with relevant ISO standards, including inter alia ISO 9001
**Eligibility**:
