About the Role

As the Commercial Analyst you will be responsible for creating and updating best in class models to assess the viability of AGL’s current and future pipeline of renewable energy and battery storage opportunities. The models will be used for investment decisions at the Board level as well as supporting the project level teams in strategic and tactical decision making. You will act as a Business Partner for the Energy Hubs team and liaise with Corporate Finance, Integrated Energy Finance, Integrated Portfolio Planning and Power Development teams.

What you’ll be doing:

- Creating, managing and updating financial models using Excel for investment projects
- Creating clear auditable calculations showing underlying contracts and market mechanisms of the project
- Providing concise, easy to use summary project information and outputs
- Interpretation and critical assessment of project economics NPV, IRR, quantitative risk assessment and strategic alignment
- Ensuring rigorous internal peer reviews and external audit requirements are met without issue
- Outstanding communication, interpersonal and influencing skills

About You

You will have strong financial modelling skills in Excel and a comprehensive knowledge of the Australian gas and electricity markets and infrastructure engineering concepts.

What you’ll bring to the table:

- A degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance or similar
- Advanced MS Excel skills, with VBA knowledge beneficial but not essential
- 5+ years of professional experience, including at least 3 years’ experience in the energy industry
- Experience modelling capital intensive infrastructure projects
- The ability to sense check, interpret and explain the underlying drivers of financial forecasts across different scenarios
- The ability to convert technical and commercial concepts into financial forecasts
- Demonstrated ability to create 3 statement financial models
