**RoadTek is a commercial business within the Department of Transport and Main Roads. We provide transport infrastructure solutions for projects across Queensland. We are a multi-disciplined organisation with accreditation to national and international standards. This means we value respect, safety, diversity, and inclusion.
The Principal Advisor (Workforce) will work within the Workforce team to deliver practical business outcomes within RoadTek. RoadTek's industrial landscape is complex and includes both a 'blue' and 'white' collar workforce of approximately 1380 FTE.
In this dynamic role, some of your responsibilities will include:
- Guide, mentor and coach the Operational HR team (part of the broader Workforce and Capability team), managing a team of six direct reports who deliver generalist HR/IR advice and recruitment.
- Deliver expert advice and support to senior management on non-complex and complex case management issues, including employee grievances, medical management, attendance management and performance management.
- Assist the Manager (Workforce & Capability) with activities that enhance business processes, including staff performance and development.
- Create and evaluate detailed documentation such as reports, briefs and submissions, and where required, deliver verbal briefings and presentations to senior management groups.
- Provide consultative guidance on staffing and workforce management, developing solutions in collaboration with managers.
- Facilitate the development of enhanced leadership and business management practices within the workforce.
- Prepare correspondence, including briefing materials and reports, for the Minister, Director-General, the RoadTek Leadership Team and other senior staff on issues as they pertain to workforce relations.
- Develop, maintain and foster strong relationships and partnerships with internal clients and external stakeholders and providers, with a focus on two-way communication.
To be successful you will need:
- Demonstrated experience in a similar Human Resources leadership position, including the ability to collaborate with the team to set common goals and success measures, and foster team independence by encouraging ownership of outcomes.
- Expert generalist knowledge of HR, performance management, recruitment, employee and industrial relations.
- Ability to identify the connection between organisational events and issues, and their impact on the team's work.
- Ability to remain composed, support the team to recognise gaps in information and seek advice to enable a prompt resolution.
- Demonstrated capability to rapidly build relationships with key stakeholders and utilise their feedback to refine plans and coach the team to do the same.
- An exceptional ability to consult, liaise and negotiate confidently and in a clear and concise manner through the use of structured written and oral communication.
- The ability to work under pressure in an environment of competing priorities and deadlines.
- While there are no mandatory qualifications for this role, a tertiary qualification in human resources or a related discipline will be highly regarded.
- Cover Letter - maximum of 2 pages outlining how and why your skills and experience are suited to this position.
- Resume
