**About the role**
This role provides a wide variety of analysis, reporting & actuarial support for HCF’s Diversified Business (which includes HCF Life, Overseas Visitor Health Cover (OVHC), Pet & Travel businesses).
**Key responsibilities**
This includes supporting regulatory functions and detailed analysis of HCF’s diversified products, members and financial performance. While the majority of the work will be relating to the Diversified business, this role is also expected to work across the Actuarial & Pricing team and the wider Product & Diversified Business (PDB) division, providing support and guidance as required to all team members.
Whilst working within and supporting primarily the PDB division, this role also liaises with and provide services to other business units, including Business Growth, Member Services, Member Health, Finance, IT, Risk & Compliance and People & Culture.
The role involves financial modelling, budgeting, pricing, product development & monitoring activities, as well as support for business initiatives, and requires complying with corporate requirements in terms of timeliness and accuracy of reporting.
- Preparation of regular reports relating to the performance of the Diversified Business
- Provide analysis to senior management and other internal stakeholders as required
- Support product and pricing initiatives including analysis of internal/industry data and subsequent documentation
- Make use and support the development of pricing, valuation and/or reserving models and methodologies
- Preparation/support of pricing and claims reviews, experience investigations, budgets, year-end financials and Annual Reports
- Support in the preparation of regulatory reports to APRA
- Assist the external Appointed Actuary of the Health Fund and the Appointed Actuary of the Life Company in the fulfilment of their functions
- Preparation of reports for other external entities (i.e. reinsurers, industry bodies)
- Collection, monitoring and analysis of HCF and Industry performance statistics
- Monitoring and keeping up to date with developments in Life/Health policy and legislation
**About you**
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following qualifications, experience and skills:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in an actuarial and/or business related field
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in an analytical role preferably in the private health and/or life insurance industry
- Studying for actuarial qualifications
- Demonstrated technical and modelling capability including use of Excel, SAS/SQL, Python/R and/or other relevant tools
- Working knowledge or demonstrably strong interest in the Australian Life/Health Industry and its regulatory framework
- Accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organisation
