**About the role**
The role of Actuarial Analyst is to provide specialist assistance to HCF’s Private Health Insurance (PHI) & Diversified Business (Overseas Visitors Health Cover (OVHC), HCF’s Life Company). The role will be responsible for developing and maintaining actuarial and financial analysis to support business activities and initiatives. While majority of the work will be relating to the Life business, this role is also expected to work across Actuarial & Pricing and the wider business to provide support and guidance as required.
**Key responsibilities**
- Preparation of reports relating to the performance of HCF’s Diversified Business
- Support product and pricing initiatives including analysis of internal and industry data
- Working with the external Appointed Actuary of the Life Company and the Appointed Actuary of the Health Fund (in relation to the OVHC business) in the fulfilment of their functions
- Monitoring and keeping up to date with developments in Life policy and legislation
- Prepare research and insight on issues relating to the operation of the Diversified Business including changes in the regulatory and competitive environment
- Assist the wider Actuarial team with analysis on the Health fund
- Cooperate with HCF in relation to activities taken by the company to comply with WHS legislation
- Comply with WHS policies, procedures and safe work practices
**About you**
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following qualifications, experience and skills:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications and experience in an actuarial and/or business-related field
- Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in an analytical role preferably in the private health insurance industry
- High computer literacy skills: MS Office package (particularly Excel), SAS/SQL
- Working knowledge or demonstrably strong interest in the Australian Health System, the Australian PHI Industry and its regulatory framework
- Some knowledge in the life insurance industry is preferred, although not essential
- Accuracy and attention to detail
