AO6 Level, WHS Advisor
- Location, Brisbane city
- 12 month contract with possible extension of another 12 months

The Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) Advisor role will assist in the delivery of targeted WHS audit and risk programs and will assist the department in the subsequent implementation of audit recommendations. You will also be required to conduct specialist investigations of significant incidents and provide expert advice to managers and employees in the areas of Workplace Health and Safety to enable them to meet their legislative/regulatory obligations, policies, standards and procedures.

**Role responsibilities will include, but not limited to**
- Assist in the delivery of the WHS audit program.
- Provide specialist risk management advice and support to all business units in accordance with the Safety Management System.
- Provide investigation services for significant and/or serious high potential incidents in accordance with the requirements of the Safety Management System.
- Provide technical WHS leadership and guidance to business Safety Advisors and managers.
- Undertake projects and tasks to improve the effectiveness of health and safety practices.
- Collate and distribute key messaging and work updates to key stakeholders as required.
- Consult, negotiate, liaise and provide support, guidance and high-level expert advice to business units and managers on operational WHS issues.
- Provide support for other safety governance committees as required.
- Communicate and engage with a range of stakeholders including senior leaders, management and safety advisors.
- Contribute to a safe and healthy workplace by complying with Workplace Health and Safety legislation, code of conduct, standards and departmental policy and procedure.
- Other duties as required.
- The role may have quarterly Key Performance Indicators to maintain.
- Current and varied experience across public and private sector is highly desirable.
