The role
If you like variety in your workday, this role is for you Expressions of interest are being sought for a principal policy officer with a broad skillset and a passion for ensuring equitable health care across the Queensland health system.
You will play a key role in coordinating advice, briefing on, and responding to the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability from a Queensland Health perspective. As part of this work, you will be required to undertake comprehensive analysis of detailed reports with a view to providing strategic advice to government on key findings and recommendations.

**Other key pieces of work you will be involved with include**:

- the implementation, monitoring and oversight of Queensland Health's Disability Services Plan, including engagement across the department and Hospital and Health Services
- policy development and implementation, including to improve the health care needs of people with intellectual disability
- creating education, training and awareness raising opportunities to improve health care delivery to people with disability

As part of this role, you will be required to prepare briefing notes, coordinate information and advice across the department and HHSs, think strategically, and have good planning and organisational skills.

The successful person

**You will have**:

- high-level strategic, conceptual, leadership and analytical skills relevant to a range of social and health priority areas
- the ability to manage projects, undertake research, interpret trends and provide detailed critical analysis of reports, discussion papers and other documentation and to provide advice on policies and strategies
- high-level verbal communication skills, including experience confidently and clearly negotiating and presenting complex concepts and advice to internal and external stakeholders
- high-level written communication skills.
