**The Role**
Parliamentary Business - Army provides Army Headquarters with a cohesive coordination function, ensuring the Army meets corporate, ministerial and Chief of Army objectives in a collaborative and timely manner. The APS 6 position is an essential part of the team and undertakes a range of tasks in support of the broader Command. You will be working with APS and Military personnel in key positions.
The core duties of the position include:
- Drafting and/or coordinating responses to ministerial correspondence and advice;
- Drafting and coordinating responses for Question Time Briefs;
- Coordinating briefs for Senate Estimates;
- Working in a busy coordination team on a variety of tasks; and
- Working with Objective, PDMS and a range of other computer systems.
Strong written communication, attention to detail and stakeholder engagement skills are essential in this role.
**About our Team**
Parliamentary Business Army (PBA) is a key interface between Army and the Ministerial and Executive Coordination and Communication (MECC) Division and ministerial staff. The team plays an integral role in coordination and communication at the working level.
PBA products and services underpin much of the daily rhythm of Army Headquarters. PBA ensures that our ministers and Army senior leadership are provided with quality and timely advice and support to enable them to carry out their duties effectively and efficiently. PBA provides advice and support to military and civilian personnel to equip them with the knowledge and tools to respond to ministerial requests. PBA also coordinates Chief of Army's briefing pack ahead of Senate Estimate Hearings.
PBA is part of Parliamentary Coordination and Governance - Army (PCG-A), a Directorate that was established in 2024. PCG-A reports directly to Chief of Staff - Army Headquarters. The team has three key areas: Parliamentary Business, Freedom of Information and APS Workforce Management.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as a high level of attention to detail are essential to this role. An APS 6 Ministerial Liaison Officer may be accountable to set work priorities and manage workflows. They are expected to be capable of helping build capability through coaching, feedback and developing the quality of work undertaken by stakeholders across the Army.
They will be accountable to contribute towards ongoing self-improvement and professional development.
