**The Role**

You will provide detailed professional and policy advice in relation to complex task, while coordinating tasking to and from the Group.

You will have considerable level of stakeholder engagement, liaising with stakeholders in relation to complex issues and will anticipate and respond to stakeholders’ needs to achieve organisational outcomes. In this high-tempo environment and you will also be required to:

- Demonstrate a strategic understanding of the impact and implications of our work to the work area and more broadly Defence and whole-of-government.
- Resolve problems using professional knowledge and experience.
- Coordinate and manage workflows and resources, prepare work area and team plans detailing measurable milestones and expected outcomes.

**About our Team**
Vice Chief of the Defence Force Coord (VCDF) sits within the Governance and Coordination function of Command Support Branch of ADFHQ. Governance and Coordination has three functions - Governance and Assurance, Coordination (Ministerial and Parliamentary) and Risk and Security. VCDF Coord coordinates and facilitates advice to the Ministers on behalf of VCDF and the other ADFHQ Divisions.

We use expertise in Government to ensure the ministerial communications address Departmental and Government needs, including preparing the Defence ministers for Question Time, Senate Estimates other key parliamentary dates. Part of this is ensuring the communications meet the expectations of VCDF and the Ministers’ Offices.

This can include providing guidance to the divisions, lending a strategic and governmental lens over their work and negotiating with Ministerial Offices. Some of the other tasks we undertake include managing awards for the group and freedom of information requests.

We are seeking resilience, good organisation and coordination skills and agility. You will enjoy working in a team environment and being collaborative, and be self-driven to achieve individual tasks. You will understand how to effectively manage stakeholder expectations and to balance priorities.
- Ability to respond appropriately to dynamic and evolving tasking requirements;
- Negotiate with a variety of stakeholders to manage workloads, timeframes, expectations and escalated enquiries;
- Excellent administration and time management skills and be able to coordinate and manage competing priorities;
- Ability to gather, analyse and report on customer feedback to manage service offering and delivery;
- Preparation of complex correspondence, reports, and/or policy and procedural documents for review and publication; and
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
