**The Role**
The APS 6 Ministerial Liaison Officer will work in the Ministerial, Parliamentary and Cabinet Directorate in the Joint Capabilities Group Headquarters. The Directorate works closely with the Chief of Joint Capabilities to ensure the Group delivers timely and quality information to Government.

The Ministerial Liaison Officer will be accountable, under broad direction, to undertake complex cabinet tasks and assist with cabinet submissions. They will work within a framework of legislation, established principles, work practices and procedures in accordance with Defence's mission and business objectives. The Senior Cabinet Liaison Officer will be required to engage regularly with relevant stakeholders to identify expectations and concerns and develop a clear understanding of the issues and solutions to achieve outcomes. They will be accountable to seek out self-improvement and professional development opportunities.

**About our Team**
The Joint Capabilities Group provides a wide range of enabling capabilities to Defence, and is also responsible for leading edge capabilities such as cyber, data link and satellite communications. The Group’s Ministerial, Parliamentary and Cabinet team plays a pivotal role in providing timely and quality submissions to Government. The successful person will have excellent writing skills and knowledge of ministerial, parliamentary and cabinet processes.

The position is a critical APS contributor to the achievement of strategic Defence outcomes, and is a role in which public servants should undertake as it can heighten their personal profile and provide significant experience that will assist them to progress their career.

The Ministerial Liaison Officer will work with independence and undertake various cabinet activities involving differing, unrelated, and established processes and methodologies. They will coordinate and contribute to achieving team outcomes, review and progress work and provide advice and assistance, on methods of task completion to team members.

The Ministerial Liaison Officer will work in a high pressure environment and to extremely short timeframes. They will need to manage stakeholder relationships and expectations with competing priorities to ensure deliverables are met. They will have authority and discretion to exercise initiative and judgement to achieve results.
