**Purpose**
The Manager Health, Safety & Wellbeing (HSW) is a member of the Senior Management Team (SMT) working
closely with the SMT, Executive Management Team (EMT) to lead the implementation of CHW’s Health, Safety and
Wellbeing strategic plan and priority work programs. CHW is actively working on a safety culture maturity journey
and aspires to be a safety leader in the water sector and beyond.
The primary objective/s of the position are to:
- Provide leadership to build proactive health, safety and wellbeing practices and culture throughout the
organisation.
- Drive and influence all levels of the organisation, contractors, and external stakeholders to realise the
benefits both individually and collectively in embedding resilient HSW practices in how we do business.
- Demonstrate the continued development, evolution and implementation of all health, safety and wellbeing
policies, procedures, and systems to ensure currency, alignment to legislation requirements and continuous
improvement to best practice standards.
- Demonstrate deliverables in HSW KPIs identified in the annual performance key result areas.
**Key Duties/Responsibilities**
- Develop and implement the CHW Health, Safety and Wellbeing strategic programs of work that actively
targets the leadership and culture required to become a generative HSW culture.
- Communicate the desired future for HSW in a style that creates a collective commitment to safety being
everyone’s priority.
- Identify and embed governance and oversight of the HSW risk profile ensuring fit for purpose controls are
embedded and actively tested for resilience.
- Build and drive successful relationships across the business while actively promoting a positive and
consultative HSW style to the Executive Leadership Team, managers, people leaders and team members.
- Manage HSW team members (three) to ensure individual performance plans are in alignment with strategy
and they implement a business partnering model with responsible divisions.
- Create alignment and trust through skilled report writing and communication targeting performance analysis,
lessons learnt, proactive action and assurance of critical risk controls.
- Proactively create and maintain positive relationships with external stakeholders including, but not limited to
contractors, industry OHS groups, regulators, unions and peak bodies.
- Implement an enterprise contractor safety framework that embeds into the contractor management
framework to ensure legal compliance, due diligence and proactive oversight of Contractor safety
performance.
- Deliver HSW programs into the business using inclusive consultation, co-led solutions, change management
frameworks and ensuring fit for purpose outcomes.
- Analysis of leading and lagging data, including development of statistical reports for Management and Board
Committees.
- Manage the injury/illness support program for team members including WorkCover claims management and
Insurer relationships.
