**The Opportunity**

Leading a team of five direct reports, the Associate Director IR will establish a clear strategy to guide the future of industrial relations at NSW Ambulance. Reporting to the Executive Director People & Culture, the Associate Director will:

- Proactively undertake highest-level industrial relations projects pertaining to NSW Ambulance wide policies and strategies.
- Develop close relationships with external stakeholders including unions and professional associations to achieve NSW Ambulance initiatives and goals
- Oversee the resolution of industrial disputes and associated matters by negotiation, conciliation and/or arbitration with least disruption to services, including appearing before industrial tribunals.
- Supervise and professionally lead colleagues to achieve IR objectives and to increase capabilities both within the People & Culture unit and NSW Ambulance business units.

It is an exciting chapter for the organisation, with the NSW Government having just allocated an additional $1B in funding to NSW Ambulance over the next four years. It is a record investment that will underpin the largest paramedic workforce in Australia. It is a unique time in which to join a growing organisation providing critical care services across to community members across NSW as they embark on their next chapter.

**About You**

For this appointment, we are seeking an experienced Industrial Relations practitioner who will advocate for vital changes to the NSW Ambulance landscape and support a strong workforce. Leveraging your industrial relations experience, you will have a track record developing and implementing strategic initiatives that align IR activities within an organisation to meet business objectives. In addition, you will have:

- Extensive experience at a senior level within Industrial Relations, with proven experience managing complex industrial relations projects.
- Substantial knowledge and understanding of state industrial relations systems, as well as a sound understanding of the Federal IR system.
- Excellent communication skills, with an ability so build and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally.
- A track record of leading, mentoring and managing a high-performing team.

An understanding of the NSW public health system is highly regarded. Alignment to the values and mission of this critical care organisation is essential.
