**The Role**
Under direction of the program lead, you will undertake a wide variety of complex tasks related to the Maritime Sustainment Divisions (MSD) Work Health and Safety (WHS) program including:

- Participate in the development, implementation, maintenance and monitoring of the MSD Work Health Safety Plan and Supplier Safety Assurance program.
- Monitor internal safety compliance and assurance metrics, including the collation, analysis and identification of trends in WHS incident data.
- Contribute to organisational performance reporting.
- Provide continuous improvement of practises to mitigate risks and make it more effective.
- Deliver WHS support and advice to Business Units, agencies and other departments.
- As a team leader or member, provide support to Business Units for risk analysis, WHS supplier safety and quality assurance planning and investigations.
- Research legislative, Defence and other organisational requirements, policies and process to support investigations, recommendations and advice.
- Develop briefs, minutes and reports as required.
- Represent the Directorate of Maritime Work Health and Safety Environment (WHSE) as required.

**About our Team**
As the APS 6 WHS Officer, you will be part of an integrated team of WHSE professionals within the Directorate of Maritime WHSE. This Directorate consists of both APS and ADF members to provide cross class through life support through the development, delivery and assurance of WHSE products to Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Group (NSSG) business units.

- Be able to work in an integrated workforce consisting of ADF and APS.
- Have strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
- Build productive relationships with stakeholders.

You will be required to:

- Assist and undertake WHSE assurance activities and audits.
- Extract WHS data from the WHS incident reporting system.
- Enter and extract data using audit tools against criteria.
- Use your prior knowledge in WHS / quality auditing to plan, undertake and report on audit and assurance activities.
- Previous experience in a large organisation, maritime or construction would be highly advantageous.
