**About the Role**

As an Accredited Financial Counsellor with at least three (3) years of financial counselling experience, you will work as part of CCQ’s Financial and Legal Programs team, providing financial counselling services to Queenslanders who have been affected by cancer.

You will deliver face to face financial counselling, in addition to video and telephone counselling.

This role is a Permanent, Full-time (37.5 hours per week).

**Your Contribution**
- Provide face-to-face, video and telephone financial counselling to individuals impacted by cancer to enhance their financial situations and reduce the likelihood of persistent financial distress.
- Provide information about the client's rights and responsibilities to self-empower clients to manage their situations, act as an advocate on behalf of clients as necessary and engage in negotiations with creditors to secure to secure suitable outcomes.
- Ensure accurate and up-to-date client data is maintained in the client record, adhering to service data collection standards, and maintaining quality case notes.
- Demonstrate a solid commitment to continuous professional development and supervision, ensuring the maintenance of advanced practice skills, self-care, and compliance with industry-specific service standards.
- Collaborate with others to increase awareness of the financial counselling service and raise awareness of financial toxicity issues affecting individuals with cancer.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders, including community and government agencies, to enhance awareness of the financial counselling service and the impact of economic issues on individuals with cancer. This is aimed at promoting the integration of the service within the community and facilitating the implementation of best practices.

**Qualifications, Experience, Knowledge and Skills**

**Essential**
- Diploma of Financial Counselling.
- Accredited and experienced financial counsellor with appropriate qualification, to meet eligibility requirements for annual Accredited Membership with the Financial Counsellors’ Association of Qld Inc (FCAQ).
- A strong understanding and experience with relevant legislation and information related to financial issues, particularly those concerning credit and debt matters that impact clients, encompassing their rights and obligations.
- An interest in working closely with individuals affected by cancer, demonstrating empathy and commitment to providing supportive care.
- Proven ability to establish and maintain professional networks and effectively collaborate with other service providers, fostering collaborative relationships.
- Possession of highly developed communication skills, both in oral and written forms, to effectively convey information and engage with stakeholders.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills, allowing for effective engagement with individuals across all levels of the community.
- Proven ability to organise, manage and prioritise multiple tasks.
- Proven ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
- Well-developed administration skills, including intermediate computer skills.

**Desirable**
- An understanding of the impact that the diagnosis and treatment of cancer has on individuals, their partners, and families.
