**Job description**:
Actuarial Reserving’s purpose is to support better strategic decisions through technical analysis of past experience and current trends to create insights into the future. Our team is made up of highly qualified and specialised predictive scientists who develop and enhance our systems and interact across IAG to deliver value-adding advice.

You will provide support within the Actuarial Reserving team in promoting the understanding of uncertainty associated with the Group’s material risks to Executive and Senior Business leaders across Australia. The role supports the office of the Chief Actuary in modelling and advising on the valuation of insurance liabilities and risk-based capital.

You will drive change by re-defining processes to add value and seeking new opportunities to utilise technical skill sets and models. The role requires strong communication, including the ability to discuss technical concepts simply and influence key decision makers.

**Key Responsibilities**:
Advise & Build Relationships- Be a proactive member of Analytical and Actuarial communities; writing papers, attending workshops / conferences or leveraging other opportunities- Liase with a network of internal stakeholders to add value to the business- Provide pragmatic advice, with appropriate backing of technical knowledge & results, to influence business decisions

Technical Analysis & Development- Take a key role in ensuring the team’s processes and projects are efficient and technically sound- Ensure analytical methodologies and data processes are in line with best practice, recommending and implementing changes as required- Take a guiding role in the ongoing development of the team’s core technical capabilities

Governance, Monitor & Report- Develop and adhere to governance process standards- Be vigilant in the scrutiny of data quality by performing appropriate levels of data reconciliation on key assumptions and results- Appropriately challenge, at all times, assumptions and results used in all analyses- Advise on and design value adding internal / external reports- Develop and maintain key process / methodology documents and other learning materials

**Skills & Experience**- Tertiary qualifications in an appropriate technical discipline e.g. Actuarial, Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science, Finance, Engineering- Prior practical experience (minimum 5 years) in an actuarial valuation role, preferably long-tail classes- Practical experience with analytical software such as SAS, Excel, SQL, R or Python- A good communicator and team player
