Why this role matters
We are seeking a values driven Ministry Assistant to be responsible for supporting the Corps Officer in the delivery of the mission of The Salvation Army Ballarat Community Church through development and facilitation of ministry, in an integrated setting.
The role you could play
Implement and Facilitate programs
- Plan, co-ordinate and assist with the delivery of Corps programs and activities for children and families including oversight of Corps Cadets and Junior Soldiers and leadership of preschool program
- Participate in worship leadership and preaching
- Provide resources and curriculum for programs
- Coordinate participation in Divisional activities for youth and children
- Volunteers are recruited, trained and effectively engaged
- Collaborative relationships are fostered and maintained with relevant community groups and organisations (e.g. municipalities, police and local Schools).
- Effective outreach activities are planned and new children/families introduced to the Corps through outreach
Child Safe Environments
- Assists the Officer to ensure that the Corps is a child safe environment and that the relevant policies and procedures are implemented
- SP3 ‘Permission to Proceed’ is complete and approved for all programs.
Pastoral Care and Discipleship
- Pastoral care and discipleship activities are undertaken as guided by the Corps Officer including engaging with participants of Coffee Talk and Café 102 Community Meals
- Current and emerging leaders are identified, trained, coached and equipped for ministry
Administration
- Ministry focused administration tasks are undertaken as required, including reports of activities and outcomes, maintaining social media communication and recording information on the volunteer management system
- Assist Officer with research and preparation for sermons and other presentations.
This is a part time position 30 hours per week for 12 months.

What we're looking
- Understanding of and commitment to the mission and values of The Salvation Army.
- Experience and active involvement in church ministries
- Experience in leading and developing teams
- Diploma of theology or significant demonstrated equivalent experience, knowledge and skills.
- Must complete compulsory training or other requirements required by state legislation with regards to children, vulnerable persons and privacy
- A current and valid Working with Children Check or equivalent
- Willingness to undergo a National Police check
