ABOUT THE ROLE

Strive Community Care provides therapeutic home environments for children and young people with histories of complex trauma and/or those with significant disabilities.

Strive Community Care utilises a strong Therapeutic Framework and unique CREATE Model of Care with a focus on establishing holistic safety. Children and young people are provided with a sense of family, support to heal, opportunity to positively connect with others, and rebuild their lives.

We are now looking for a Training & Development Officer to play a key role in training and developing our OOHC staff to deliver quality care in therapeutic residential services. The role is focused on upskilling our care teams and managers through individual and group training, supporting the Quality & Compliance department in HSQF preparation, and developing new training and development resources.

This is a contracted role for 6 months, with view to extension, working full-time hours (38 hours per week) out of our Seventeen Mile Rocks office with tools of the trade (mobile phone and laptop) provided as part of the employment package.

**Duties of the successful applicant include**:

- Development and delivery of a broad range of training focused on OOHC best practices and Standards of Care (particularly relating to therapeutics, disability, and mental health)
- Provide advice, consultation and assistance to staff within the organisation on operational policy and practice matters and complex casework practice issues.
- Promoting compliance in the organisation through development of policy and processes in line with the Human Services Quality Framework and assisting with service audits
- Monitoring, reporting, and making recommendations on the standard of organisational practice.
- Contributing to professional development and practice development by engagement in a range of learning strategies including mentoring and coaching.

**Skills and Experiences**:
ABOUT YOU

The successful applicant/s will require the following Qualifications and Experience:

- An appropriate qualification in Community Services or related discipline (minimum certificate IV in Community Services or equivalent supported with extensive professional experience).
- Significant OOHC experience in a management or learning & development position where you have excelled in coaching and training youth workers to work therapeutically with complex young persons.
- Ideally qualified and experienced in delivering Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training.
- Strong understanding of the Child Protection Act 1999 (QLD), Human Services Quality Framework (HSQF), and human resources best practice
- Current HLTAID003 Provide First Aid Certificate or equivalent is essential.
- Valid unrestricted Australian drivers licence
- Must hold a Positive Notice Blue Card (WWCC) and Yellow Card
