**Position Information**:
Port Kembla Public School is uniquely located opposite the five islands of the Illawarra and beneath the historic and culturally significant Hill 60. The school offers extensive and well-maintained green spaces with outdoor opportunities for play and sporting activities.

There is a current enrolment of 239 students from a range of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds. 10% of our students are Aboriginal and 1% of students are from a non-English speaking background. A school wide culture of high expectations is supported by a positive behaviour for learning model which encourages students to be respectful, responsible and resilient.

The school enjoys a cohesive mix of experienced and early career teachers who work together to improve student learning outcomes in literacy and numeracy. These improvements are driven via ongoing professional engagement with explicit teaching, use of data to inform classroom practice and attention to student learning dispositions.

Port Kembla Public School is a proud member of the Warrawong Learning Community and the Lake Illawarra North Principals Network. The school is making progress towards their Strategic Directions: student growth and attainment, enhanced professional practice and authentic community partnerships. Commitment to lead Aboriginal education, to build the capacity, skills, and passion of staff to engage and inspire cultural knowledge and identify for students, staff and community.

1. High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education

2. Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programs

3. High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community

4. Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning

5. Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning

6. Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policies and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people
