- Foster House supports individuals experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness. We are looking for caring, empathic and compassionate individuals to support our team to create a a great experience for our residents and individuals connected to our service. Working within a commercial kitchen facility, Catering Team Members play a key role in supporting our community by providing consistent, reliable and most importantly, nourishing meals in a safe, welcoming place. The role assists with preparing and serving food under the guidance and support of the Catering Team Leader. An ideal role for those who enjoy cooking in a team environment._
Key responsibilities
- Meal preparation and service:_
With guidance and instruction from the Catering Team Leader, Catering Team Members prepare meals according to the planned menu and the number of meals required.
- Set up and clean up:_
With a keen eye for neatness and hygiene, Team Members assist with initial set up, clearing of tables, pack up, wash up and waste disposal.
- Manage stocks and storage:_
Qualifications and skills (desired/required)
Experience in food preparation, handling and service
Food Handler Certificate highly desirable.
Rostered hours in agreement with manager - 7 days available for rostering
Development opportunities with this role
This role will give volunteers an opportunity to develop skills and build experience in food handling, preparation and service. Additionally, there will be access to a range of training opportunities and insight to the work of a large not-for-profit religious organisation with expressions in many different areas of society.
- The Salvation Army is a child safe organisation and is committed to protecting children and young people from harm. All child related roles will require the successful completion of a Working with Children Check. _Additionally, certain volunteer roles may require a National Police Check._
