Catering Team Members play a key role in supporting our community in Surry Hills by providing consistent, reliable and most importantly, nourishing meals to our community members in a safe, welcoming place.
Working within a commercial kitchen facility, Catering Team Members play a key role in supporting our community by providing consistent, reliable and most importantly, nourishing meals in a safe, welcoming place. The role assists with preparing and serving food under the guidance and support of the Kitchen Supervisor. An ideal role for those who enjoy cooking in a team environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Meal preparation and service: With guidance and instruction from the Kitchen Supervisor, Catering Team Members prepare meals according to the menu, fresh ingredients available and the number of meals required- Set up and clean up: With a keen eye for neatness and hygiene, Team Members assist with initial set up, clearing of tables, pack up, wash up and waste disposalQualifications and skills:
- Experience or qualification in food preparation, handling and service a bonus but not essential as all training provided
Background check requirements
Background checks play an important part in our commitment to being a safe organisation. Where an applicant has disclosable history, the selection process includes a fair assessment and a risk management approach. Collection of personal information is handled per our privacy and confidentiality policies. Below is what is required for this role:
- Police Check and WWCC are both required as this role may involve working closely with people experiencing vulnerabilities as well as children
Time Required & Commitment:
- We're particularly interested in hearing from people available Tuesdays 9-3 however we have availability throughout the week.
Development opportunities with this role:
This role will give volunteers an opportunity to develop skills and build experience in food handling, preparation and service. Additionally, there will be access to a range of training opportunities and insight to the work of a large not-for-profit religious organisation with expressions in many different areas of society.
- The Salvation Army is a child safe organisation and is committed to protecting children and young people from harm. All child related roles will require the successful completion of a Working with Children Check. _Additionally, certain volunteer roles may require a National Police Check._
