Melbourne Full Time

At Metro, we have brought together talent acquisition and talent management to create an integrated talent service offering to the business. This exciting change has brought about an opportunity for a contemporary leader to shape the future of our talent programs.

About the Role

Reporting to the Head of Talent, the Talent Programs and Planning Manager is responsible for designing and embedding enterprise-wide processes that connect talent acquisition, workforce planning, internal mobility, performance, and succession into one coordinated and effective framework. It’s an exciting opportunity to lead enterprise planning, drive consistency, and ensure our talent practices are scalable, data-informed, and aligned with business needs. This role will also manage a small team and lead external research to embed best practice into our talent approach.

This is a key opportunity to build a consistent, enterprise-aligned, and future-fit talent function that meets Metro’s current and emerging workforce needs.

Key Areas of Responsibility
- Lead the development and implementation of cyclical and enterprise-wide Talent Acquisition planning, including intake programs and campaign design.
- Manage and enhance processes for internal mobility, redeployment, and demobilisation to optimise talent outcomes and support compliance.
- Oversee performance review, talent identification, succession, and outplacement processes in partnership with People Delivery teams.
- Create and govern tools and frameworks that support data-led decisions on critical role appointments.
- Maintain talent mapping and reporting frameworks to deliver clear workforce insights and drive continuous improvement.
- Manage a small team, setting clear expectations and fostering a ‘customer first’ culture that values feedback, data, and innovation.
- Develop and maintain governance structures to ensure talent practices align with enterprise standards, legislative requirements, and audit obligations.
- Collaborate with divisional and People teams to identify areas for process improvement and lead projects that deliver scalable, best-practice outcomes.

About You

You are an experienced talent or human resources leader with a passion for process improvement and workforce strategy. You bring strong knowledge of the full talent lifecycle and have designed or led integrated talent solutions across large and complex organisations. You’re comfortable navigating governance frameworks and can build and lead scalable, compliant processes that support organisational goals.

You hold a relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources, Business, or Organisational Development (or equivalent experience) and bring demonstrated experience in designing and embedding enterprise-wide talent programs. You’re a confident communicator, capable of engaging senior stakeholders and leading a high-performing team through change and transformation.

Next Steps

At Metro, we know that a diverse, equitable, and inclusive company is a more innovative and successful one that reflects the communities we serve. We strive for a workplace where everyone is treated fairly and respectfully. We are committed to fair, equitable and merit-based employment and recruitment practices, and we encourage all interested applicants to apply.
