About the role:
What you'll do:
Team Leadership & Development:
- Lead, manage, and mentor a high-performing team responsible for merchant loan origination, approval, and servicing.- Foster a collaborative and results-driven culture, encouraging continuous improvement and professional growth within the team.- Set performance targets and track team KPIs, ensuring lending objectives are met.

Lending Strategy & Execution:
- Develop and execute strategies for providing loan products to merchants, ensuring alignment with broader business goals.- Ensure the team effectively cross-sells relevant loan products to eligible merchants, driving revenue and customer satisfaction.- Collaborate with other departments (risk, compliance, sales, etc.) to streamline the loan process and ensure a seamless experience for merchants.

Operational Management:
- Oversee the day-to-day lending operations, ensuring all loans are processed efficiently and in accordance with bank policies, regulations, and best practices.-
- Identify opportunities to improve loan processing times and reduce operational bottlenecks.

Customer Relationships & Loan Advisory:
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with merchant clients, offering expert advice on loan products that best meet their needs.- Provide ongoing support to merchants throughout the loan lifecycle, addressing any concerns or issues promptly.- Resolve escalated client issues and ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and retention.

Risk & Compliance Management:
- Ensure all lending practices comply with relevant regulations, policies, and risk management guidelines.- Monitor loan portfolio performance, identifying trends or issues that may require intervention or adjustment.- Work with the risk and compliance teams to mitigate potential risks associated with merchant lending.

Reporting & Performance Monitoring:
- Prepare regular reports on lending activities, performance metrics, and key outcomes for senior leadership.- Analyse data to assess lending trends, team performance, and the effectiveness of cross-selling efforts.

What you'll bring:
- A proven track record in banking or financial services, with a focus on lending, merchant services, or business loans ideally in a telesales environment.- Strong leadership abilities, with experience managing, motivating, and developing teams to achieve business objectives.- A deep understanding of the lending process, risk management, and regulatory requirements, particularly for merchant lending products.- Proven experience in cross-selling loan products and building lasting relationships with clients.- Ability to make data-driven decisions and resolve complex issues promptly.- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both internal teams and external clients.- A bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or a related field is preferred. Additional certifications in banking or lending are a plus.
