**How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne**

The Safety and Wellbeing Adviser is responsible for:

- Providing operational advice on compliance to OHS and Workers Compensation legislation, COM’s safety management system, implementing strategic initiatives and processes to support employees with work and personal related injuries;
- Providing administrative support to the Safety and Wellbeing team to coordinate and manage business as usual activities and tasks; and
- Developing and implementing wellbeing programs to prevent injury and maintain wellbeing.

**What you will bring***
- Ability to demonstrate and display City of Melbourne Values - accountability, integrity, courage, respect for self and others, and striving for excellence.
- Tertiary/Diploma qualification in OHS or a related discipline, or an equivalent level of experience
- A comprehensive understanding of OHS systems and issues including experience in maintaining and implementing safety management systems and relevant documentation
- Excellent customer service skills with proven high level interpersonal, negotiation and persuasion skills including confidentiality, discretion and judgement in dealing with sensitive people issues
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills
- Experience in management of audit programs and auditing management systems
- Ability to effectively prioritise to meet multiple and demanding time-lines
- High level technology skills and the ability to learn and adapt to new technology systems
- Experience in Return to Work and administering Workers Compensation requirements
- Internal Auditor qualification (or similar) would be desirable
- Experience managing OHS projects within a complex environment
- Ability to conduct ergonomic assessments and provide professional and proactive advice regarding safe work practices and appropriate use of office equipment
