**About the role**
We’re looking for a passionate and dynamic individual to help showcase, celebrate and preserve Glen Eira City Council’s local history and heritage. In this exciting role, you'll develop and deliver projects and activities that engage the community, increase the understanding, and elevate the profile of our unique history.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Deliver projects and activities to increase the understanding, appreciation and profile of local history and heritage.
- In collaboration with Arts Team Leader, develop and deliver projects such as interpretive signage, displays and exhibitions related to Council’s organisational and local history.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement historical interpretive material around the municipality.
- Develop and coordinate digital products and programs such as self-guided tours for the Glen Eira Walking Tour App and Historian for a Day Educational Resources.
- Provide advice for and deliver a regular program of talks, workshops, tours, and events relating to local history and heritage and preservation/conservation, in consultation with Libraries, Arts and Culture team
**About you**
Do you have a passion for local history and sharing your knowledge with the community? If you have experience managing historic materials and crafting engaging stories for diverse audiences, this role is for you You’ll be an expert in coordinating multiple projects, ensuring they stay on track and within budget. Experience working in the public sector is a plus, but not essential.
The following is also required:
- Tertiary qualification in history, heritage, museum studies, or relevant related discipline and/or demonstrated experience in history, heritage, museums, and/or galleries
- Experience in using Museum Collection Management System software such as Victorian Collections, EMu, Inmagic/DB Textworks and/or Vernon
- Demonstrated strong writing skills for documentation of research, preparation of reports, correspondence, prepromotion and project documentation
- Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write for a variety of contexts including interpretive/exhibition text, social media, and digital based collection records and to deliver public talks and tours.
- Proven ability to work cooperatively in a small team, including volunteers, casual staff, and contractors
