Reporting to the Senior Manager Competition Regulation and Strategy, the role of the Manager Competition Regulation and Strategy is to provide legal advice, primarily on competition and consumer law. In this Full Time 2 Year Fixed Term position, you will also manage AGL’s responses to regulatory investigations across diverse topics and maintain relationships with various jurisdictional regulators, whilst contributing to AGL’s company-wide Competition and Consumer Law compliance program.

What you'll be doing:

- Provision of legal advice, primarly in respect of competition and consumer law
- Maintain relationships with the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) and Australian Energy Regulator (AER) and other important external stakeholders
- Manage ACCC and AER inquiries and investigations (such as litigation, formal and informal information requests, merger clearances, and undertakings) to ensure compliance with legal obligations
- Manage and identify potential competition and consumer law risks and issues across the business as they may arise Review of business proposals and provision of strategic advice in relation to ensuring compliant execution of corporate strategy and strategic initiatives

About You

You will be a degree qualified lawyer with 5-10 years of practical experiencing practicing competition law. You will have exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders internally and externally.

What you’ll bring to the table:

- Undergraduate degree in Law
- Legally qualified admitted to practise in Australia holding (or eligible to hold) a current practising certificate
- Extensive knowledge of the Australian Competition and Consumer Act
- A knowledge of the energy industry, including regulatory market frameworks highly regarded
