About the Role

This is a Fixed Term Position until 30 June 2025

The PlannerRegional Projects, Environmental Planning and Emergency Recovery will work across rural and regional Victoria to deliver the Regional Flood-related Assistance program, which assists councils translate flood studies into streamlined planning scheme amendments for enhanced community resilience.

The Regional Flood-related Amendments Assistance Program helps councils translate flood studies into streamlined planning scheme amendments. The program provides councils with strategic planning support and resources to help accelerate their flood-related planning scheme amendments. This may include funding assistance, drafting of planning scheme amendment documentation, preparation of reports and external costs and procurement. The work program has been funded to improve the resilience of regional and rural Victoria by delivering flood related projects that will contribute to making regional and rural Victoria a safe place to live, work and visit.

The Planner will work with internal and external stakeholders to coordinate and administer procurement, funding and resource assistance to support regional councils to implement Flood-related planning controls. The Planner will also assist the Regional Projects team prepare reports and advice for senior executives and the Minister for Planning and contribute to the evaluation and improvement of program processes and outcomes. Key Selection Criteria

The Department of Transport and Planning is seeking a Planner for the Regional Projects team,Environmental Planning and Emergency Recovery to contribute to the development and implementation of regional planning strategies. This is a key role where you will manage and deliver planning projects, ensuring tasks are completed to meet agreed outcomes. You will be responsible for coordinating team efforts, monitoring progress, and adjusting plans as necessary to stay on track.

Position Outcomes / Accountabilities
- Provide planning and project management services to support the delivery and implementation of the Regional Flood-related Amendments Assistance Program
- Through the Regional Flood-related Amendments Assistance Program, provide planning and project management support to councils across regional and rural Victoria, including:

- funding to assist with planning scheme amendment costs incurred by the council. This may include, but is not limited to, drafting amendment documents, community consultation/exhibition costs, report preparation, review of submissions, panel submission preparation and representation costs and external procurement
- funding towards the cost of a planning panel or Flood-related Amendment Standing Advisory Committee (SAC) hearing
- DTP in-house assistance with draft amendment preparation
- Providing guidance and support on areas of expertise
- Initiate, maintain and manage effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, gain cooperation, and influence views on complex, contentious and sensitive matters within established parameters
- Represent or support the team at unit, division or group level management meetings and other forums where appropriate
- Work flexibly and collaboratively across the business to deliver business unit, group and DTP priorities and initiatives as required
- Practice cultural safety by creating environments, relationships and systems free from racism and discrimination so that people can feel safe, valued and able to participate
