Essendon FC - “The Bombers” - are a professional sporting team in the Australian Football League. As home to 5 sporting teams, we run our AFL men’s and women’s programs, VFL women’s and men’s programs, and a wheelchair football team. But we’re more than the game. **About the role**
The VWFL Coach will provide leadership to our playing group, assisting with the development of players and our game plan. The Coach will communicate, support and motivate the playing group to perform to their highest level. To achieve this the VWFL Coach must develop strong working relationships with staff and players working within the Essendon VWFL Program.
This is a volunteer role that will require you to be available for 2 to 3 hours on a Thursday night for the VWFL Training session and for 3 to 4 hours fortnightly on a Sunday for our teams two games.
**About you**
- Experience working, playing, or coaching Australian Rules Football or a similar sport
- Experience working with athletes with a disability or in wheelchair sports is desirable
- Commitment to delivering one training session a weeknight and working fortnightly on game days for two matches
- Ability to create a game plan that suits the players abilities
- A thorough understanding of game strategies, playing styles, and tactics, targeted at players of all abilities
- Ability to create and develop training drills to entrench the game plan
- Ability to read a game of football, make player changes, create player match ups, provide player feedback and count classification numbers on court
- Ability to influence and create cultural change
- Willingness to uphold the values and behaviours of the Essendon Football Club
- Level 2 AFL Coaching Accreditation
- Current Working with Children Check or ability to obtain one
- Permanent Residency in Australia, or appropriate visa to work permanently
