About The Role
Reporting to our AFL Football Analytics Team, you will have the opportunity to learn the core skills of football analytics. The role involves:

• Adopting industry standard processes for capturing and stacking football vision
• Developing a working comprehension of notational analysis using HUDL Sportscode (including Codewindow creation and data capture)
• Introduction to data processing and analysis using R (Including tidyverse, markdown and shiny)
• Hands-on experience with first and third-party data sources (such as Champion Data), including cleaning, manipulation and extracting insights
• Practical delivery of feedback to stakeholders
• Regular workshops will be run by a member of the EFC Football Analytics team

The tasks completed in this internship are in line with the "Exercise Science Standards" component of the ESSA Exercise Science Practicum requirements.

Internship Program Details

• Placement Commencement Date: Monday 10th November 2025
• Placement Completion Date: Friday 28th August 2026
• Days Per Week: 1 day
• Hours Per Day: 5 to 7 hours (approx. 120/140 hours across the season)
• Work Location: The Hangar, Melbourne Airport

About You
Currently studying an Exercise Science, Sport Science, Data Science (or related degree), in their second year or later,
with a university placement requirement
, you will be passionate about sport and want to be involved within an elite sporting club. You'll have a genuine commitment to personal growth and development, with a strong desire to learn and succeed in a team environment. You'll be a self-starter who has excellent organisational skills and a passion for performance analysis and/or data analytics.
