**The Opportunity**

**This is an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated individual to join Transgrids Network Operations team and be accountable for identifying and leading special projects as part of Transgrid’s energy transition and investigating the integration of new energy technologies.**

This role is critical in collaborating and coordinating with key stakeholders across the business and broader energy industry and will provide leadership to initiative teams through a matrix structure, with support from across Network Operations and external expertise as required.

This role supports the General Manager Network Operations, the Network Operations leadership team and the Energy Transition and Innovation group, in identifying and implementing improvements, coordinating cross functional operations opportunities, seeking and sharing insights from broader industry on similar activities.

**Duties and Responsibilities**

As a **Future Controls Room and Operations Lead **you will:

- Work collaboratively with the Networks team to assess process and systems design and requirements definition, to evolve power system operations.
- Provide expertise, coordination and insights to lead the key enabling activities identified in Transgrid’s Energy Transition Roadmap.
- Seek continuous improvement opportunities for Transgrid’s operations, including its control centre, interactions with AEMO, and future interactions with REZ Network Operators and DSOs
- Assess the impact on Transgrid of the transformation of the electricity grid, and the resulting evolution of control centre tools, practices, and staffing
- Ensure any initiatives maintain compliance with the National Electricity Rules and Transgrid’s performance of delegated responsibilities of AEMO
- Seek and provide insights on leading practice and innovation for control centre operations in industries outside energy
- Ensure that appropriate probity arrangements are followed to ringfence prescribed and non-prescribed growth opportunities
- Work with the leadership team across the business to identify and coordinate network operations improvements to enable the energy transition

**Skills & Experience**

What we expect from you:

- Tertiary qualifications in electrical engineering or electrical trade with equivalent experience.
- Experience in leading teams in developing innovative ideas and delivering value to customers and consumers
- 10+ years’ experience working in network operations functions.
- Understanding of the transmission network and operations
- Extensive experience in the operation of energy networks
- Conceptual (or practical) understanding of new energy ventures and associated customer / market potential
- Experience working with Executives, Board, and the investment community to identify requirements and implement solutions
- Experience in project identification, development and implementation to deliver value for customers and consumers
- Proven capacity to make effective commercial decisions which preserve value and are assessed against defined corporate objectives
