Our client is responsible for a broad range of infrastructure and community services supporting a diverse shire community. Currently seeking a Building Inspector who will be responsible for providing Inspections Services to ratepayers, owners and building professionals. Operating to achieving compliance with relevant building legislation, ensuring that building works within the Shire provide an acceptable level of health, safety, amenity, and sustainability.

**Responsibilities include**:

- Conduct mandatory building inspections and testing at various stages of the construction process to ensure compliance with Building Permit documentation, Building Act, Building Regulations, Building Code of Australia and other relevant legislation
- Conduct inspections to ensure that all necessary and essential safety measures are in place
- Ensure structural efficiency, fire, health and safety standards, amenity and sustainability measures are implemented, maintained
- Record and maintain accurate building inspection records including preparation of reports in accordance with Shire policy and relevant legislation
- Carry out any pool inspections as required and prepare relevant documentation as required.
- Prepare and Issue Infringement Notices, Building Notices, Building Orders, and Direction Notices where building works do not comply with the Building Act, Building Regulation or approved plans

**Skills, experience, and other requirements**
- Tertiary Qualification in Building Surveying/Building Inspection
- Experience in the undertaking of statutory and mandatory building inspections
- Experience in local government or other complex organisations is desirable, but not essential.
- Ability to manage own time, set priorities, and plan work to achieve agreed timeframes

Offering a hybrid working model, flexible working arrangements and generous leave provisions with a positive, fun, and inclusive work environment. This position is a full-time permanent role at Band 8 level **- **$114,579.69 to $127,857.42 per annum (plus. super), pending level of experience.
