Seeking an experienced community development specialist.

**Your new company**
Work within the community services branch of a local council with the aim of creating connected, healthy, active and safe communities. You will be leading a team of Community Development officers and coordinating development programs, policies, strategies and capacity building initiatives.

**Your new role**
You will work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to establish a policy position,
coordinate an action plan and deliver practical resources and strategic solutions to progress
Council’s role in response to homelessness.
Duties will include:

- Undertake research and engage with key stakeholders to establish policy positions and organisation-wide action plans in relation to homelessness.
- Establish an organisational process and practical referral pathways for council officers who engage with people who are homeless.
- Represent the organisation and provide input at established cross government and sector working groups.
- Undertake research, identify locally relevant options and build a business case to establish a service that fills the gap of a homeless outreach service.
- Undertake consultation and planning to identify gaps/opportunities to strengthen cross-government/sector collaboration and outcomes.

**What you'll need to succeed**
The successful applicant will have relevant qualifications in Human Services or related as well as knowledge and understanding of current community development trends and the ability to plan for and deliver innovative projects that respond to existing and emerging issues.

You will need high level written and verbal communication with the ability to present and prepare complex reports, policies, grants and other relevant documentation along with exceptional interpersonal skills including negotiation and conflict resolution.

An understanding of the roles and responsibilities of local government as they relate to the community development field will be highly advantageous.
