As Associate Director - Legal Counsel you will work closely with the General Counsel to provide effective day-to-day legal support resulting in legal solutions based on a smart risk counseling approach which help the ANZ affiliates to achieve business objectives, minimise legal risks, and comply with local laws, regulations and company’s policies including:

- Advising the business in a range of areas including corporate, competition, property, privacy, product liability, regulatory and administrative law
- Making decisions that impact a range of standard and non-standard operational, process, project or service activities
- Supporting the management of risk through the implementation and enhancement of effective compliance programs
- Providing commercial advice and helping to develop the business through contract and other strategic alliances
- Advising business partners in Compliance, Medical, Marketing, Corporate Affairs, HR etc. on activities and laws applicable to their business
- Proactively notifying and training the business on new laws that may affect them and providing them with tools to help them be compliant
- Partnering with the global Patent Division to enforce intellectual property rights, influence development of relevant legislation and policy and advise the business on post patent opportunities
- Assisting the affiliates on the implementation of new corporate initiatives
- Ad hoc project based work as required
- Advising on litigation matters eg product liability, external litigation and investigations
- Engage in cross-functional/cross-geographical collaboration to replicate best practices within NAPAC Hub and more broadly within Lilly International Legal

To succeed in this role you will require:

- strong commercial and business acumen, with an ability to be proactive, problem solve, make decisions and recommendations quickly, and with sound judgement
- advanced negotiation and drafting skills
- flexibility and ability to manage and prioritise a busy workload and competing demands
- self motivation and the capacity to work independently
