This position reports to the Director of Information Communications Technology (ICT).

**Overview**

This position has primary responsibility for all information systems used at Wenona and leads the information systems team.

You will provide all necessary planning, development, training and support of the School’s information systems to support the academic and operational needs of the School. The Information Systems Manager will work within the IT team to manage, maintain and optimise the School’s information systems, including the school management system (currently Synergetic), learning management system (Canvas) and intranet (Schoolbox). You will liaise and coordinate with external suppliers to ensure the effective and reliable use and operation of these systems. You will mentor and develop the Information Systems Analyst, enabling them to grow professionally.

The Information Systems Manager acts in a professional manner at all times, maintains an open and effective communication style and has a commitment to ensuring quality services are delivered to the School community through regular improvement activities.

**Key priorities**

Leading the implementation, maintenance and improvement of information systems:

- Analyse and evaluate system needs to ensure the information systems are reliable.
- Advise on current system limitations and develop solutions to improve associated processes, procedures and methods.
- Maintain and modify the database as required and in line with upgrade schedules.
- Write and test technical specifications and associated documentation from specifications, technical designs and flow charts.
- Generate data extraction/queries, SQL tables and reports to efficiently exchange and extract data.

Developing Systems and Packages to meet business objectives:

- Actively develop, implement and configure database and related systems to enable seamless integration and exchange of data between systems, and ensure data is presented to relevant stakeholders in a clear and meaningful structure.
- Develop programs and scripts to manage existing data sources and integrate new ones.
- Develop proposals and strategies for software (database) design. Be the point of expertise on key information systems (i.e. the school management system, learning management system, portal)
- Work with key academic staff in preparing for reporting periods.
- Build Power BI Reports and Dashboards to be used school wide, ranging from student and staff performance to site and system usage.
- Develop, update and maintain existing processes and procedures relating to the school’s Databases.

Overseeing Project Management and Training:

- Write, update and maintain technical programs, end user documentation and operational procedures.
- Undertake specific project management tasks using high attention to detail, technical excellence and well-developed organisational skills.
- Identify opportunities for, develop, present and lead technical and end-user training for Teaching and Professional Services staff.

People and community leadership:

- Lead and develop the Information Systems Analyst to foster knowledge sharing and capacity building within the wider IT team as it relates to the support of the School’s information systems.

**Education and Experience**
- Three or more years’ experience providing school management system support within a school (preferred) or five or more years’ experience providing information systems support within a commercial environment.
- Strong working knowledge of database structures, software development practices and implementation processes.
- Tertiary qualifications (Certificate IV, Diploma or Degree) in Information Technology or related area.
- Experience in effectively gathering and documenting user requirements and training end users.
- Demonstrated experience with SQL, including writing queries and stored procedures.
- Demonstrated experience with common scripting/programming languages like JavaScript, Powershell, PHP, NodeJS and APIs (e.g. REST)
- Knowledge of and experience with traditional on-premises (e.g. Windows Active Directory and Linux) and cloud infrastructure (e.g. AWS EC2).
- Experience with business analytics
