**In this role, you'll**:
Join NSW TrainLink (NSWTL) is a multi-modal passenger transport service provider, providing rail and coach services across NSW and connecting NSW to Victoria, Queensland and the ACT. NSW TrainLink delivers integrated and flexible transport solutions and improved transport outcomes for the community and to stimulate the economy of regional NSW.As a regional business, NSW TrainLink is located in Sydney and at a number of regional sites across NSW, each offering their own unique benefits and opportunities.

The Regional Rail Fleet Project involves the replacement of the regional passenger fleet including 60 XPT and more than 50 XPLORER and Endeavour passenger cars. As the NSW Government awarded a contract for the replacement of the ageing NSW regional rail fleet and the construction of a new train maintenance facility at Dubbo named ‘Mindyarra’, we are in the process of replacing the current regional fleet with 29 safer, comfortable and more accessible trains, including 117 new carriages. These new trains will improve safety, comfort, accessibility and reliability for customers who travel from Sydney to many regional centres in NSW as well as Canberra, Melbourne and Brisbane.

**The opportunity**

Reporting to the Director Network Resilience & Operational Readiness, you will provide strategic leadership, planning and delivery of NSWTL’s operational readiness requirements and implementation of the new regional fleet into service. You will be responsible for the provision of operational readiness to ensure that the new fleet delivers customer value and that NSW TL is ready to operate the next generation regional rail fleet.

Contributing to your success will be developing and enhancing cross-functional working relationships as a member of the leadership team within the Regional Rail integrated project team to lead and coordinate delivery of program objectives aligned with operational readiness objectives related to NSWTL for the delivery of the project on behalf of customers and communities of NSW. You will also be responsible to guide a team of collaborative technical experts through a period of change whilst ensuring the team is well deployed on critical projects.

**About you**

As an experienced senior operational leader preferably in rail environment, you will take a collaborative, big picture approach to the development of a project-related operational readiness plans in collaboration with Regional Rail Project (RRP) team within Transport for NSW and to ensure that all operational requirements are delivered.

You will be solutions focused and foster a culture of accountability and performance both within your own team and when collaborating with internal and external key stakeholders, including representatives from other Transport Cluster agencies and teams.

Most importantly, you have the ability to work collaboratively with all stakeholders such as Transport for NSW, Unions, Sydney Trains, to navigate through the complexities of the project and establish effective governance and project management practices to underpin effective decision making between NSWTL and the Regional Rail project to minimise risk to delivery and achievement of customer outcomes in the acceptance of the new fleet. You have the experience of understanding and maintaining awareness of the industrial implications of projects and initiatives whilst managing the associated risks appropriately. Prior experience within TfNSW or the rail sector more broadly will be well regarded.
