**The opportunity**
A rare and exciting fixed-term opportunity has arisen for a Communications Manager to join our Corporate Communications team at David Jones for up to 12-months.
In this pivotal role, you will play a crucial part in shaping and amplifying the David Jones brand story, fostering meaningful connections with our diverse team members and stakeholders.
As the Communications Manager, you will drive the development and implementation of David Jones’ internal communications strategy and activity, contribute to external communications strategies, support media relations and create engaging content across various platforms.

The Communications Manager’s objective will be to engage and inform internal audiences and enhance and protect the reputation of David Jones while delivering the business’ strong internal and external narrative.
With a hybrid mix of time at home, corporate office, with some interstate travel required, this role will suit a dynamic and experienced communications professional with a passion for internal communications, crafting compelling narratives, working across a broad network of stakeholders and supporting senior leaders across the business.
**What does the role involve?**
- Develop and implement comprehensive communication strategies that align with the company's objectives and brand.
- Craft compelling narratives and produce high-quality content and events to engage internal and, where appropriate, external audiences.
- Collaborate closely with the David Jones Executive Team, cross-functional leadership teams and operational communications teams to manage communication for business priorities, ensuring consistent messaging and brand alignment.
- Act as a communications business partner to the People & Culture team to enable a consistent and engaging people experience.
- Provide management and mentorship to the team’s Communications Coordinator.
- Serve as a member of the Crisis Management Team to provide communications advice and support during issues.
- Serve as a brand ambassador, representing David Jones at events and industry functions.
- Monitor and analyse industry trends and insights to inform communication strategies.
**Please note, this is a fixed term contract position for up to 12-months in duration.**
**Who are we looking for?**
- A bachelor's degree in Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Extensive experience working in a communications or public relations role in a large, complex organisation, preferably with strong understanding and appreciation for internal communications
- A flair for building relationships, with the ability to form and nurture relationships at all levels of the organisation and with external stakeholders.
- Leadership and coaching skills, with a passion for empowering team members and colleagues and creating an inclusive culture
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
- Media relations and crisis communication experience.
- Proficiency in content management systems, social media platforms, and analytics tools.
- Excellent organisational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- A creative mindset and a passion for storytelling.
