About the role
Reporting to the Head of People Services, this newly created role will manage and resolve complex workplace relations matters, lead investigations whilst maintaining compliance policies, training and reporting.
**As our Workplace Relations Manager, you'll also**:
provide high-level guidance on complex workplace relations matters, ensuring compliance with legislation, awards, agreements, and internal policies; lead investigations and represent the organisation in external tribunals.
manage high-risk employee relations issues (e.g., misconduct, grievances, disputes) with procedural fairness; act as a senior escalation point and ensure consistent, timely, and risk-aware resolution of advisory queries.
lead and develop a People & Culture Advisor; design and deliver training; drive improvements in policies, processes, and systems; monitor legislative changes and workplace trends.
build strong relationships across departments (e.g., payroll, legal, finance); support change management and workforce strategy; ensure compliance with employment laws, safety standards, and foster an inclusive, high-performing culture.
prepare submissions, represent the RACGP and advocate before external tribunals as required such as the Fair Work Commission, including in conciliations, arbitrations, and other proceedings.
design and deliver training, including train-the-trainer programs, to build leadership capability in wholistically managing workplace relations matters.
Skills & Experience
Tertiary qualification in Business Administration, HR, Law, or related field; proven experience in workplace relations; prior work in membership, health, or education sectors is highly desirable.
Strong understanding of workplace relations, risk management, conflict resolution, and best-practice HR strategies; intermediate MS Office skills; Health and Safety Representative Training is a plus.
Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholders at all levels; exceptional planning, time management, and attention to detail; ability to manage multiple requests across functions.
High accuracy and confidentiality in handling sensitive information; customer-focused with problem-solving abilities in ambiguous situations; commitment to lifelong learning and may require a National Police Check.
