The Role
As part of the SBS News team, the Social Media Lead will:
- oversee everything social for SBS News, using your journalism experience/news judgement and extensive knowledge of social media and the digital landscape to deliver content and engage and expand our diverse audience.
- creating, implementing, maintaining the social media strategy, upskilling the team and wider SBS newsroom on social best practice, policy and more, and close the feedback loop by using data to drive your editorial and content decision making
About You
Rising to the challenge of owning the social media space for SBS News from strategy to implementation, you will have demonstrated experience across the day-to-day planning and publishing for social media accounts within a News and Current Affairs environment (preferable). This includes pitching and producing optimised native content for social platforms, and using your copy writing skills to craft headlines, sells and other social media posts that connect with audiences and establish social media profiles as an authentic, engaging and trustworthy content destination.
- Solid digital journalism experience, with a flair for Social Media.
- Experience developing and implementing strategy '“whether around stories/campaigns or more.
- An ability to identify the audience that SBS News can better reach and acquire through social platforms.
- Experience, communicating news content in a tailored way across a variety of social platforms.
- Great communication and negotiation skills and the ability to convey this to the team and other counterparts towards a greater understanding social media practice and policy
- Able to work independently, especially under pressure. Does not shy from taking initiative and calculated risks, can manage multiple tasks/competing demands.
- A passion for news.
- Ability/interest to manage projects and people
