**About this role**
Due to increased opportunities and exciting projects, Arup is currently seeking Assistant Structural Technician within our Buildings group helping deliver high quality Building Information Modelling (BIM) models, data and documentation.

Committed to helping to develop motivated graduates, Arup have a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Structural Technician to join the Buildings team based in Melbourne.

As you develop experience in structural engineering drafting and design you will become a key member of team working collaboratively with Arup specialists and clients to deliver efficient and sustainable projects.

**What will I do?**
- Be responsible for undertaking engineering/design/drafting tasks in order to meet client requirements for the documentation of various structural design projects including hospitals, schools, hotels and various other social infrastructure projects.
- Prepare professional reports/technical documents recording/summarising designs.
- Maintain own professional skill set in line with market/industry standards through training and knowledge building exercises both as provided by Arup and pursued independently.
- Use a combination of standard and modified design and drafting methods/techniques in order to solve problems including the use of Computer Aided Drawing (CAD), modelling and analysis software.
- Provide progress information to supervisors and colleagues to allow accurate reporting of progress.

**What will I bring?**
- Desire to excel and widen experience in Structural engineering skills & programming (C++, Java (J2EE), XML, Python) etc.
- Strive to remain positively motivated and foster team spirit at times of significant pressure, including assisting others to meet deadlines
- Have ability to relate and work well with people at all levels within the team and within the wider office, as well as externally with clients.
- Can demonstrate awareness of software design tools for Structural Engineering including AutoCAD, Revit and 12D packages
- Currently enrolled at TAFE completing their second or third year of relevant qualifications in Civil Engineering (Associate Degree in Civil Engineering) or BIM modelling.
