Rycan Retaining and Earthworks is a small family-run business specialising in Structural Landscaping including building retaining walls, and fences and performing earthworks. We have been servicing the needs of the Brisbane Western Suburbs and Ipswich regions for over 10 years.

The Apprenticeship will require you to attend a TAFE Campus 1 full day per month with all other education gained through hands-on experience on a construction site. This is a full-time, Monday to Friday, employment opportunity.

The position is not for the faint of heart You must be physically fit with no existing medical issues. Able to work outdoors in up to 35-degree heat at times, during the Summer months, and carry heavy objects. Willing to work as part of a team to get the work done, no matter what it takes.

**THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL HAVE/BE**:

- Recently graduated or left secondary schooling.
- Construction White Card - if you don't have this currently we can arrange one.
- Have some experience labouring outdoors and willing to get in and work hard
- Able to work onsite as a team, take direction and be willing to learn
- Must have own reliable transport and driver's license.
- Must be able to provide a clear police background check or undergo a check if requested
- Motivated, trustworthy, reliable, and hard-working.
- Provide your own navy blue tradie trousers and shorts. You will be supplied with steel cap boots, a company shirt, a wide-brim hat, safety glasses, safety gloves, ear protection, and all tools of the trade, etc.

**DUTIES WILL INCLUDE**:

- Attending TAFE Classes monthly and completing all unit studies;
- Utilising basic hand and power tools;
- Understanding and correctly interpreting basic building instructions
- Assisting trades, team members, and machine operators e.g. 2-tonne excavator, 5-tonne excavator, and 2-tonne skid steer.
- General labouring duties.
