QAIHC is a non-partisan peak organisation representing all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Organisations (ATSICCHOs) across Queensland at both state and national level. The members deliver comprehensive and culturally appropriate, world class primary health care services to their communities.
QAIHC was established in 1990. Our vision is the elimination of disparities in health and wellbeing experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Queensland. QAIHC contributes to this vision by leading the development of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Sector in Queensland through evidence based, practical public policy solutions.
At its core, QAIHC is an inclusive, collaborative, respectful and progressive organisation committed to nurturing leadership and self-determination on behalf of its members and communities. They do this by displaying diversity through entrenched values including respect, empathy, trust and all-encompassing advocacy and access to services for all members.
As a vital member of the executive leadership team, the General Manager, Policy and Research will lead the Policy, Research and Data division which hold accountability for the development of high quality public policy, submissions and publications that influence impactful change across the health sector. This division also works to ensure that health service leaders across Queensland have the opportunity to contribute directly to the development of public policy, and that strong partnerships are built with external stakeholders wishing to contribute in this space.
This role will establish and lead policy development frameworks and review activities, and nurture evidence-based research to support these efforts. You will also provide high level advice to the CEO and Board on issues relating to policy and research matters, and develop strategic policy positions and advice in conjunction with QAIHC members.
To be successful in this role you will be a strategic and values driven leader with demonstrated success developing high performing and engaged teams. You will have a track record of success in leading and developing policy within a public sector, or membership or community based environment relating to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health services. You will be a natural and influential communicator with the ability to build strong and productive working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, and represent your organisation with integrity and authenticity. Tertiary qualifications in Business, Health Management or equivalent are highly desirable. It is a firm requirement that this role be based in Brisbane.
