**About the role**:
The Project Evaluation Unit plays a key role in providing advice to Project Owners and the senior management, ensuring that investment proposals processed in accordance with relevant guidelines and methodologies, fully aligned with the department's strategic objectives and seek to maximise value for money. Further, the Project Evaluation Unit provides specialist skills in the areas of economicN analysis, financial/commercial analysis, benefits management, documentation preparation, project management and the management of specialist consultancies.
In the role of Principal Advisor (Project Evaluation), you will play a key role in the evaluation process of major transport infrastructure proposals, in partnership with TMR planning teams, as part of the development and delivery of the Queensland Transport Roads and Investment Program (QTRIP). Working with professionals from a number of disciplines, you will have the opportunity to play a key role in working with the Project Manager to lead the development of transport solutions to deliver an integrated, safe, efficient and reliable transport system for Queensland.
The role will include but is not limited to;
- Under the direction of the Project Manager, you will lead key components of major transport infrastructure project evaluations, including financial, economic, legislative and benefits analysis.
- Support the development of high-level submissions which include working with the Project Manager to gain relevant government approvals though the drafting and preparation of departmental documents, such as Cabinet submissions, briefs and policy and research papers.
- Promote and implement the Whole of Government evaluation frameworks and requirements processes, including the Project Assessment Framework and Australian Government requirements, to ensure delivery of reliable major project evaluations.
- Draft terms of reference and briefs for approval in relation to the selection and engagement of consultants.
- Under the direction of the Project Manager, you will draft key chapters of the Strategic Assessment of Service Requirements, Preliminary Evaluation and Business Case stages of the Project Assessment Framework.
