SPA Australia provides senior decision makers within the Australian Defence Force with timely and objective analysis of military capabilities and operations across the full spectrum of conflict. Our team of experienced military professionals and highly qualified analysts integrate operational expertise with advanced analytic methods - including force generation modelling, agent-based tactical simulations, wargaming, and operational mission analyses - to develop and deliver products that evaluate current and future capabilities and concepts.

SPA Australia has an immediate need for a Military Operations Analyst to support submarine analysis for the Royal Australian Navy.

**Responsibilities**:
Our ideal team member is a former mid-ranking Australian Defence Force Officer, SNCO or Defence civilian with recent knowledge, skills and experience in submarine warfare, anti-submarine warfare or submarine engineering. Domain experience and a strong aptitude for STEM, critical thinking and a passion for objective, evidence-based analysis will be critical for this role.

The Military Operations Analyst supports the development and conduct of operational and technical analyses using a variety of quantitative, qualitative, and modelling and simulation-based approaches that evaluate military operations. SPA will provide upskilling in operations analysis, modelling and simulation tools, techniques and processes.

We are seeking an individual that will:

- Assist in the development and delivery of military operations assessments, briefings, reports, and other deliverables to inform capability and employment.
- Support rigorous red teaming and quality assurance reviews of analytic products to ensure consistency and accuracy.
- Think strategically, be detail oriented, exercise independent judgment, and work autonomously with mínimal supervision. Strong time-management and interpersonal skills are critical.
- Be willing to learn complex Operations Research and Analysis techniques, potentially including travel and courses in the United States.

Qualifications:
**Required Qualifications**:

- 10 or more years of relevant military experience in submarine operations.
- A Bachelor’s degree or higher in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM).
- Active Negative Vetting 1 (Secret) security clearance with the ability to obtain a Positive Vetting security clearance.

**Desired Qualifications**:

- Active Positive Vetting security clearance
- Experience conducting operational analysis in support of submarine operations
