**The Role**
Strategy, Policy, and Industry Group is seeking a number of Strategic Analysts to contribute to the Department of Defence’s key policy and national security functions to protect and further Australia’s national interests.
You would be a pivotal part of a team that strengthens Australia’s national security and economic resilience by using your analytical skills to inform military and dual-use export decisions, Defence inputs to Foreign Investment decisions, or other strategically-important decisions within regulatory frameworks.
The Strategic Analysts roles are largely within Defence Industry Policy Division and Strategic Policy Division, although some are located in other parts of the Group. While these are highly varied roles, they would all involve being part of a high-performing team to deliver national security objectives.
No two days would be the same - helping to conduct meetings to support and influence stakeholders, briefing Defence’s Senior Leadership, consulting with other government agencies, and contributing to corporate transformational change.
**About our Team**
We are a fully integrated civilian-military workforce, drawing on high-quality and motivated people from diverse backgrounds and academic disciplines who embody Defence and Australian Public Service values. We offer flexible working arrangements and a range of formal and informal professional development opportunities.
While we offer a high degree of flexibility in the way we work, each position is located in Canberra. As such, successful applicants from outside Canberra, would need to move to Canberra if successful.
Working within Strategy, Policy, and Industry Group is more than just a job; it offers opportunities over the course of a career to work across diverse national security and policy matters of national significance. We actively support mobility within the Group when the time is right but we also value our people developing their expertise in specific areas.
We are seeking highly motivated, enthusiastic and collaborative Strategic Analysts to join our Group, and contribute to our strategic goals.
To succeed in these roles applicants must demonstrate:
- practised teamwork and people skills,
- sound judgement with an innovative approach to problem solving,
- superior written and verbal communication skills,
- strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail in a fast-paced environment,
- strong stakeholder relationship-building skills, and
- an ability to work effectively within a regulatory framework.
