About the role

The Media and Content Officer is responsible for promoting Lifeblood’s work to external audiences to build brand awareness and public understanding through effective storytelling. You will play a key role in coordinating Lifeblood’s video and photo newsroom, which includes taking photos, filming, and editing video content for video news releases.

Reporting to the National Media Director, you will support state media managers to execute proactive local and regional news opportunities, will lead on preparing local media release kits for regional spokespeople, and will work with the Senior Media Manager, Content and Campaigns to develop media plans and pitch stories to long-lead, lifestyle, and feature media.

This is an exciting, challenging and busy role with plenty of variety which will offer the opportunity to interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders. The role will suit someone who has started their career in media/public relations and is looking for that next career challenge.

Sound interesting? Here’s what we are looking for;
Bachelor’s degree level qualifications in communications, journalism or public relations.

Demonstrated understanding of the fundamentals of communications including media release writing, developing a media plan, how to pitch a story, and the nuances of broadcast, print, and digital media

Proven experience filming and editing news-style content - experience in Adobe is highly regarded

A good news sense and a keen consumer of a variety of news outlets

Excellent time management, planning and organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines

A mature approach and understanding of the sensitivities of Lifeblood’s work, including the privacy of donors, recipients, and their families.

Ability to develop new media contacts

Excellent communication, interpersonal, writing and editing skills

This is a permanent, full-time opportunity based at our Melbourne national office with a hybrid wfh and office working environment. The role does participate in an on-call roster therefore some flexibility needed.
