West Leederville, Australia WA Local Government Association Full time

6 weeks annual leave (30 days)
- Varied role focused on providing advice and support and managing recruitment.
- Small, supportive and dynamic team

**People and Culture Advisor**

**Full-Time**

**$98,808 per annum inclusive of superannuation**

**About WALGA**

WALGA is an independent, member-based, not for profit organisation that advocates for Local Government and provides services to support sector excellence.

As the peak industry body, WALGA advocates on behalf of WA’s 139 Local Governments, and delivers training and services to members across the State.

In the People and Culture space, WALGA is an award free association, covered by the national workplace relations system. We have approximately 110 staff based in our West Leederville office with approximately 10 employees working in the regions. The People and Culture team is focused on our internal customers being WALGA employees.

We are working hard to build a culture that supports our teams to perform at their best every day. Our aim is to deliver strategies and provide an environment that contributes to a culture where employees will thrive.

**About our team**

There are three in the People and Culture team; an Officer, an Advisor (this position) and a Manager, who this role will report to. Whilst our team is a snug one, we’re backed by a group of Executives who believe in the role of People and Culture and who allow us to make a real impact to the culture and performance across WALGA all while having fun.

People should enjoy coming to work and we strongly believe that is only possible when you love what you do, play to your strengths, and have a supportive, inclusive team around you.

**About the role**

We are currently looking for a People and Culture Advisor due to our current Advisor being offered a fantastic opportunity elsewhere. In our view, an effective Advisor builds strong relationships with their stakeholders, proactively seeks out opportunities to lift teams’ performance, provide support to our frontline leaders and is eager to make a change through their involvement in our crucial P&C projects.

Whilst relevant, previous experience is key to being able to deliver in this role, a positive attitude, initiative, and the ability to building rapport easily is what is going to make you successful.

**What are we offering?**

In addition to 6 weeks (30 days) annual leave, we offer an office within easy reach of public transport and parking, access to a wellbeing program, an active social club, and a commitment to employee development.

Below are some of the activities you can expect to be doing on a day-to-day basis;
- Provide comprehensive advice, support and education for people leaders and employees on people processes, policies and procedures.
- Provide advice and leadership on quality attraction and retention strategies and manage the recruitment process through to post interview.
- Support function to the People and Culture Officer for payroll processing and reconciling and HRIS systems functionality and ongoing maintenance.
- Assist People and Culture Manager in research and implementation of strategic initiatives and projects.
- Responsible for maintaining best practice policies and compliance with policies through training or other methods.
- Becoming a key Wellbeing Program Team Member and all that implies.
- Tell us what caught your eye in our advert and why this role is a great fit for you
- Examples of successful culture change initiatives you have been involved in
- Your ability to build rapport with stakeholders in order to be a trusted advisor

**To Apply**

For further details on the role please contact **Lauren Mathison, Manager People and Culture on 08 9213 2030.**

This role is being sourced directly by WALGA. We respectfully request no agencies approach.

We may commence interviews upon receipt and reserve the right to close the position early.
