**Responsibilities include...**

**Protein Production Duties**
- ** Protein Expression and Purification**
- Perform protein expression using various expression systems including _E. coli _and yeast.
- Conduct protein purification using techniques such as chromatography.
- Maintain and optimize protocols for protein expression and purification.
- Prepare and manage reagents and consumables for protein production activities.
- **Research and Development**
- Troubleshoot and optimise protein production processes to improve process efficiency, consistency and yield.
- **Instrumentation and Equipment**
- Ensure proper maintenance and calibration of equipment used in protein production.

**Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) Duties**
- ** QA/QC Testing**
- Develop and conduct tests to evaluate enzyme performance, including enzyme activity assays and protein quantification using methods such as colorimetric assays, SDS-PAGE, and HPLC. Analyse and interpret data from QA/QC tests to ensure batch consistency and quality.
- **QA/QC Reporting and Monitoring**
- Prepare detailed QA/QC reports and maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all QA/QC activities.
- Conduct regular audits of QA/QC processes to identify areas for improvement.
- Ensure all analyses are conducted in accordance with standard operating procedures and quality guidelines.
- Report any deviations from quality standards and assist in troubleshooting and corrective actions.
- **Communication and Reporting Duties**
- Communicate effectively with internal teams to align on protein production and QA/QC requirements.
- Provide timely updates on production progress and QA/QC results to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address and resolve quality issues.
- Present findings and data in meetings with internal and external teams.
- Document all production activities accurately in electronic lab notebooks.
- Collaborate with internal teams to meet protein production targets and timelines.

**About you...**
- PhD or MS in microbiology, biochemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and experience working within cross-functional teams.
- Experience with enzymatic assay development and implementation.
- Experience with _E._ _coli _expression, nickel affinity purification, size-exclusion purification, SDS-PAGE, absorbance-based microplate assays, and use/maintenance of FPLCs.
- Familiarity with bioinformatics tools and databases used in enzyme target identification and analysis.
