The Accounts team are responsible for ensuring the smooth operations of all Australia Zoo Group financials. The tight knit team work closely together to ensure all KPI’s and objectives are met in the most professional way possible.

The Payroll officer is responsible for processing the weekly wages for Australia Zoo, Crocodile Hunter Lodge and Wildlife Warriors staff.

To be successful in this position, you will be professional, work collaboratively within a team and work great in a fast paced environment. You will be sensitive to the needs of the members within your team, and be happy to assist other staff wherever possible.

**Duties Include**:
Primary Duties for Payroll:

- Process weekly pay runs for up to 500 employees across multiple departments and entities.
- Manage employee profile changes which includes but not limited to changes in remuneration, title changes, transfers to other departments and/or entities etc.
- Process and finalise all types of bonuses, salary sacrifice, WorkCover and termination payments as per legislation.
- Process and finalise all types of leave payments as per legislation.
- Process and finalise all pre-pays/out of cycle payments as applicable.
- Provide Payroll Advice to employees as per the relevant award and HR policies.
- Work closely with our HR team to assist with the onboarding of new starters, contract changes and terminations.
- Stay informed of any legislation changes affecting payroll systems and best practices.
- Assist the Financial Controller with gathering data for external surveys and reporting.
- Conduct regular audits of payroll processes and controls to maintain accuracy and compliance.
- Create detailed payroll reports for both internal and external stakeholders.
- Process monthly Superannuation payments for all entities.
- Process monthly Payroll Tax and Child Support payments.
- Process end of month and end of financial year reporting.
- Prior knowledge of Deputy and Microsoft Dynamics Business Central highly favourable.

Other Duties:

- Support the wider accounts team during periods of leave, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and any cash reconciliation duties that may be requested.

**Essential Criteria**:

- Full availability, including weekends, public holidays and school holidays.
- Hold current Driver’s Licence.
- Satisfactory Australian Federal Police Criminal Record Check must be undertaken prior to employment.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role with exposure to payroll compliance.
- Ability to interpret fair work legislation, modern awards and ensure compliance across the organisation.
- Ability to work cooperatively and effectively in a team environment.
- Quick and willing learner.
- Respect for confidentiality and privacy of information and files.
- Sound computer skills (Microsoft suite) with advanced skills in excel favourable.
