**Who are we looking for?**
Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Triage Adviser to join Student Services, Student Services and Wellbeing, Administrative Division.
The Triage Adviser is responsible for providing enhanced triage support within the department to ensure timely and appropriately targeted assistance, using a stepped care model. The position will contribute to the development, implementation and coordination of triage strategies to improve overall student wellbeing. This position reports to the Associate Director, Medical Centres & Counselling for supervision, workload management and for Performance Planning and Review (PPR).

**About the Administrative Division**
Administrative Division supports the governance and operations of the University, including planning and quality, facilities and services for students and staff. The Administrative Division is led by the Vice-President (Administration) and University Registrar.
**About the Department**
The Student Services and Wellbeing portfolio leads the university-wide strategy and coordination of all non-academic matters related to the student experience. The portfolio delivers a range of services across the student life cycle, as well as providing advice and leadership to the university on a broad range of student and staff matters, including social justice and public policy.
The departments within the portfolio include: Student Administration, Student Engagement, Equity, Student Services and Health, Safety & Environment (HSE). The portfolio also has strong links to and works closely with QUT’s Oodgeroo Unit, Student Success Group and Human Resources.
The portfolio is focused on delivering services to support the university’s commitment to an exceptional student experience, leading to positive outcomes in success, retention and completion. This includes developing a campus culture which is inclusive, safe, and respectful for all students and staff.
Student Services is responsible for providing a range of services to support the health and wellbeing of students in areas of Accommodation, Chaplaincy, Counselling, Disability Support, International Student Support, Welfare Services and QUT Medical Centres.
**What you need to succeed**
To thrive in this role, you will be proactive and dependable, with a desire to make a positive impact on the experience of our students.
You will demonstrate:
- Education, training and/or extensive relevant experience equivalent to a postgraduate qualification, or progress towards, in Social Work or an equivalent field.
- Demonstrated experience in crisis response, intake and triage management, along with experience in mental health assessment and brief intervention with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Proven experience providing advice and recommendations to individuals on counselling and other available services.
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain empathetic internal and external relationships in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Demonstrated high level organisational skills with the ability to problem solve and utilise critical thinking while managing multiple tasks with competing deadlines.
- Highly developed written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with others, and empathetically discuss sensitive information with a diverse range of clients and stakeholders.
