INDEPENDENT SUPPORT WORKER
MEDICAL/LEGAL ADVOCATE
Seeking expressions of interest for position of Independent Support Worker.
Applicant will work in a small team supporting an individual client.
Our client has Stiff Person Syndrome stemming from Lyme Disease and tick borne related illnesses, along with auto-immune encephalitis and dystonia amongst other diagnoses.
Applicant will need to have availability and flexibility to work when needed on a 7 day roster. This will mean that your shifts may change from week to week and this will be in consultation with client and other staff as our clients movements between home and medical appointments locally and state wide can change quickly.
Successful applicant will be offered two days work per week to begin with, 10hr shifts from 10am-8pm. Shifts then at a later date may be up to 4-5 days in a row upon consultation with client, depending on needs.
Client reserves the right to cease employment with any hired staff at any time if client is unhappy with the support given for any reason.
To begin with new staff will meet with client and be offered work across two weeks to see if the fit between new staff and client is suitable.
This position is for an “Independent Support Worker” so you will need to have an ABN, Public Liability Insurance and Professional Indemnity Insurance. You will also need a First Aid Certificate.
Qualification will be considered however we are looking for someone with life experience. Our client has complex needs and needs the support of an individual who is confident in there communication and sense of professionalism stemming from a variety of life experiences.
Working with our client will involve regular Support Worker duties.
ie, cleaning, cooking, laundry, assisting client with organisation of appointments and attending medical appointments with GP’s, Specialists and emergency hospital visits.
The applicant will need a car capable of long distance driving, comprehensive car insurance and will need to be comfortable driving long distances and in capital cities Ie, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane.
The applicant will need to be a quick learner and be able digest a large amount of medical and legal information relating to our client quickly.
The applicant will need to have above average computer skills and will need to be able to compose letters professionally, access and organise files on cloud storage and be capable of creating and editing spreadsheets as this will be a large part of fulfilling the needs of the role as well.
This is a unique role with a unique client with unique needs.
You will be paid by QBE work cover and your first pay may take up to 21 days to receive but will be paid either weekly or fortnightly there after.
Hourly rate is $65, this is inclusive of your tax and super so you will need to be able to manage your business and finances independently.
Client has requested no smokers.
The role is based on Lake Macquarie.
