**About the Stream, Group or Branch**:
The Community Grants Hub (the Hub) administers community-based grants on behalf of Australian Government departments, agencies and organisations. With over 1,000 staff and contractors across Australia, the Hub plays a critical role in designing, selecting, establishing and managing grants across the Australian Government. The Department of Social Services develops policies and delivers programs that support the lifetime wellbeing of Australians and their families. Our vision is to achieve the best health, wellbeing and safety of all Australians. The Community Grants Hub (the Hub) provides end-to-end grant management for Australian government departments, agencies and organisations. It oversees the management and delivery of grants from 15 locations across Australia.
**Position Description**:
It is an exciting time to join the Community Grants Hub as we progress changes to support the Government’s agenda and expand our role in grants administration delivered on behalf of other Commonwealth agencies. The Community Grants Hub is a regionally focused model with close ties to, and an understanding of, the wellbeing of communities within regions, while working to enhance provider performance and client outcomes.
The Community Grants Hub engages with a diverse group of external stakeholders, including local and state/territory government bodies, other Commonwealth agencies operating in the jurisdiction, non-government organisations, peak bodies, service providers and the public.
The Assistant Director, Community Grants Hub role includes:
- manage a and develop a high performing team of staff
- professionally manage grants, including risk monitoring and service provider relationship management
- gather and analyse local and regional intelligence to improve program design and service delivery
- manage delivery of grants and grant extensions
- representing the Community Grants Hub and negotiating in a proactive, professional and collaborative manner with internal and external stakeholders
- ensure functions and services are implemented on time, to budget and in accordance with policy frameworks to achieve expected outcomes.
This is an ongoing role based in the Community Grants Hub South Australian office. The position will directly contribute to the effective administration of social and community grants.
Key Tasks:
- provide Team Leadership to ensure the successful management and monitoring of grant/contract agreement performance, quality assurance and compliance and ensure that regular feedback is given to providers
- lead the monitoring of delivery of services under the relevant grant/contract, ensuring services are delivered at an appropriate standard
- engage and collaborate with service providers and key stakeholders in Government, NGO’s, Line Managers and State Managers
- contributes to briefs, advice and messages for Ministers, Parliamentary Secretary and Department Executive
- facilitate the strategic identification and analysis of local intelligence and contribute to policy development
- interpret, analyse, escalate and resolve more complex issues impacting on social policy implementation and grant/contract agreements
- deliver Government messaging through stakeholder engagement, events, fact sheets and other grant/contract communication activities.
Key Skills:
- communication - highly proficient written and verbal communication, and is able to modify and create targeted and complex messages to diverse audiences
- presentation - expert group facilitation and presentation skills which result in the transferring and collation of complex information and where appropriate the gaining of consensus on concepts
- stakeholder management - works collaboratively and widely to establish and develop co-operative relationships and mutually beneficial alliances
- risk management - highly proficient in identifying, analysing, assessing and advising on complex business risk and impacts

**Eligibility / Additional Requirements**:
This recruitment process is being used to fill current and future ongoing and non-ongoing vacancies. A merit pool of suitable applicants will be created which may be used to fill future vacancies should they become available over the next 18 months.
